Getting in the water is the hard part. Once you do, everything follows.
Start in the shallow end. Get comfortable with your face in the water. Practice blowing bubbles.
Learn to float. On your back and your front. Floating is the base of swimming.
Practice gliding. Push off the wall, arms out, glide. Feel how the water carries you.
Learn to kick with a board. Your legs learn to move, your body learns to balance.
Add the arms. Start with a simple dog paddle, then freestyle.
Take a lesson. A coach corrects what you cannot see.
Progress is real. The first time you swim a lap without stopping, you will be thrilled.
